Route Map
The True Grit walking tour was recognized nationally in True West magazine's Best of the West issue as reader's choice for best historical town tour. The walking tours of True Grit downtown filming sites are managed by the Ridgway Western Heritage Society, and are available two ways: audio recording or in person with guide. The audio recording of the walking tour plays on a cell phone, iPad or laptop with cell service. Earphones or ear buds are recommended due to street and park noise. Free weekly in-person tours are at 3 pm Fridays during the summer from June, July, and August, and also at 10 am on Mondays in July. Both guide and participants should arrive 15 minutes early at the gazebo in Hartwell Park. At the end of your tour you may wish to stop by the True Grit Cafe to see the movie memorabilia and to enjoy the fine food and drinks. For questions or to schedule a group tour at another time beside Friday afternoon, contact Eve Becker-Doyle, evebeckerdoyle@icloud.com or 469-682-9710.
